EVASAFE EPL14760 2-PANEL LINKER MODULE

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

INTRODUCTION

The EVASAFE EPL14760 2-Panel Linker is designed for easy installation and use, with any mix of fire alarm panels having:-

a) Zonal alarm inputs which can accept 470 Ohm to alarm, and:-

b) Sounder circuits which are energised with 24v dc in the Fire condition and less than 6v dc in standby (fault monitoring). Polarity is immaterial.

The units which are used in pairs, provide a means of extending a Fire condition between two fire alarm panels and have the following facilities:-

1. CHECK ITEMS INCLUDED

Open the packaging and check that the following items are included:-

2. PLANNING

Since the units have no user controls or indications their position may be decided mainly by considerations of economy of wiring and security.

Each module should be located within the area protected by panel driving it, or within that panel.

Where available a spare zone on each panel should be reserved for indicating a fire condition extended from the other panel.

3. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

If mounting the module in a fire panel use the adhesive pillars and discard the steel case. It is important first to clean the surface on which these pillars are to be stuck, with a solvent, OTHERWISE THEY WILL EVENTUALLY UNSTICK.

Alternatively, fit the steel cases conveniently for the existing sounder circuits.

Make the connections as shown on page 4, (multi-zone panel) or page 5 (single zone panel). .

All the connections between the panels are low power and low voltage for which 1.5mm2 M.I.C.C. or FP200 are ideal.

4. TEST

Next test the outputs as follows:-

Note that the outputs from the Linkers are non-latching, therefore the panels can always be reset from a Linker alarm. This is a deliberate feature of the design and is to prevent the panels latching each other.

Silence, then reset Panel 1 and confirm that both actions operate correctly.

Silence, then reset Panel 2 and confirm that both actions operate correctly.

Repeat the foregoing test but this time reset and silence the panels in the reverse order, i.e Panel 2 first.

Check that when each panel is put into the alarm condition by activating a callpoint the following actions occur:-

The panel itself indicates the alarm on the zone which was activated.

The alarm is extended to the other panel where it is indicated correctly by the zone allocated to the Linker.

Installation is now complete, and the lids of the EPL 14760 2-Panel Linkers should be replaced and secured using the security screws provided.

5 STAFF AWARENESS

Ensure that all relevant staff at the sites of the two fire panels and at any remote manned centre, to which the fire and/or fault conditions may be signalled, are made aware that the Linkage is in operation.

6 LOG BOOK

Enter in each panel’s log book that the EPL14760 Fire-Panel Linkers have been installed and commissioned.
