The Monitored Radial Alarm Circuit Unit (MONRAC) Type 16200 has been designed to interface with fire alarm panels requiring increased sounder circuit capacity whilst still retaining the ability to fully monitor those additional circuits as required by the British Standard specification BS5839.
A further application is to extend existing remote circuits without having to wire multiple circuits back to the main control panel. Up to 10 individually monitored Single or Two Stage sounder circuits can be controlled by a single MONRAC unit.
Whilst a single ring circuit is generally preferred for each sounder circuit there are situations where such wiring is impractical for one reason or another. (Distance from the control panel, Utilization of existing wiring etc.)
A further application is where it is required to install the main fire alarm control panel in a remote gatehouse. The MONRAC can be used to reduce the wiring of the various sounder circuits.
A MONRAC Unit can also be remotely powered to save running sounder power from the control panel to the remote circuits.

If used with a single stage system, the connections to the 2 stage sounder output may be omitted, together with the relevant end-of-line resistor.
Once connected, all sounder circuits should be checked for correct indication of faults, and that faults are repeated back to the control panel.
