1. INTRODUCTION
The panel is intended to form a self-contained, one or two stage fire alarm system, and the integral alarm sounder and manual call point allow the panel to be used without any external connections, if internal batteries are used. Additional call points, fire detectors and alarm sounders may be added, if required, and the panel may also be powered from external supplies.
1.1. NORMAL CONDITION. In this state, only the BATTERY SUPPLY ON indicator should be flashing, assuming the internal battery is fitted.
If an external 24 or 50v.d.c. supply is connected, the EXTERNAL SUPPLY ON indicator will be lit. This will also apply on the Panel 5A (identified by a mains warning label on the front) if a mains supply is connected.
1.2. FIRE ALERT CONDITION. When a fire detector or manual call point connected to the ‘‘Alert’’ input operates, the integral fire alarm sounder, and any external alarm sounders should operate, giving an interrupted single tone signal.
1.3 FIRE EVACUATE CONDITION. When either the integral call point, or any externally connected evacuate call point is operated, the integral fire alarm sounder, and any external alarm sounders should operate, giving a continuous two-tone signal.
1.4. USER CONTROL. The only user control is the ‘‘RESET DETECTORS’’ push button.
NOTE that the panel will not reset if any detectors are held in alarm by excessive smoke and/or heat.
If used only with manual call points, the panel will reset itself once any call points have been reset.
